Mity Inc. has announced the successful launch of its Traversa Non-Emergency Medical Transport (NEMT) chair. Sales have exceeded $1.6 million since its introduction in early 2024. The Traversa chair is the NEMT industry’s first alternative to traditional stretchers and gurneys, reclining up to 90 degrees and tilting up to 20 degrees. A key benefit is that it only requires one operator, leading to labor cost savings. Broda Seating, a division of Mity, showcased the Traversa chair at the Vancouver Rehab Equipment Expo (REE) on March 4. Mity Inc. is a portfolio company of Prospect Capital Corporation.

The Mity Traversa Transport Chair has the following key features:

  • Adjustable angles: Reclines up to 90 degrees and tilts up to 20 degrees, providing comfort and versatility for passengers.
  • Weight capacity: Supports up to 450 pounds (204 kg), making it suitable for a wide range of users.
  • Adjustability: Includes quick adjustments in seat width (20″-24″), seat height (22.5″-32″), and removable side and shoulder supports, facilitating safe and comfortable transfers.
  • Ergonomic design: Features a Pivot Assist™ system for maneuvering in tight spaces, ergonomic hand brake, and a foot pump for adjusting seat height.
  • Certified safety: Crash-tested and compliant with WC19 standards, ensuring safety during transport.
  • Efficient operation: Requires only one operator, reducing labor costs and injury risks by eliminating the need for manual lifting of passengers.
  • Robust construction: Built with a powder-coated tubular steel frame for increased durability and stability.

This model is an innovative alternative to traditional stretchers, offering greater comfort, safety, and efficiency for both operators and passengers in non-emergency medical transport situations.
